Sometimes life of a publisher is great. When it is necessary to travel and when you travel with open eyes and open eyes you will meet many nice people.
I have been visiting our manufacturer in Ningbo, China, which was a great experience. I knew that our production partner is working with a German Heidelberg and a Japanese Komori but I didn’t know that at Uwin the company is managed like a traditional family business. The mother in law of the owner is preparing meals for all employees each day together with a team of cooks. This was quite amazing.
After my return I only had a short break before leaving to the wonderfully organized convention in Zaragoza, Spain, BATALLADORES. The Spanish community is very enthusiastic and vibrant. It was a great pleasure to have spent again some time within the really nice Spanish gamers. And I was lucky to meet Gonzalo (HQ) and Giuseppe (BlacKnight), our co-publishers of our current GameFound campaign of BATTLE COMMANDER (which was funded in lightening speed for which I want to thank all of our supporters). I also met Edgar, who is one of the main play testers for this design of Carl Paradis.
On a sad side of these exciting days, our Grognard brother Mark Ruggiero passed away. He passed away while gamers in San Diego and Zaragoza were doing what he loved the most: playing, rolling dice, discussing about current and future releases and enjoying nice companionship.
We are going to miss you, Mark. He is one of the most supportive gamers Sound of Drums had in the past. Without him Sound of Drums would maybe not look the same today. He was always there for me with his advice, experience, passion and enthusiasm.
If you want to contribute to his family in these difficult days, you can make a donation on our GameFound campaign for Battle Commander.
Please take care of yourself, hug your beloved and stay safe
Uwe
