Hello fellow gamers!

The Ancient Mediterranean Seas! An epoch full of myths. Endless coasts to be discovered and conquered. But the ancient empires were also Empires of trade and commerce in search of rare goods and grain to feed their people at home. Here it is: The game series that covers this fascinating era. Move your armies and ships over a vast map and lead your empire to the Golden Age.

Connect with us on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter or subscribe to our newsletter here at soundofdrums.org to be informed about the start of the crowdfunding campaign.

In the coming days and weeks we will regularly post here on our Blog. Stories on the development of the games, player’s notes, strategy hints, the game’s mechanism, the development chart (how everything in the game is linked) and so forth. This will give you a detailed and interesting glimpse into the development and mechanics of the “History of the Ancient Seas” series.

“History of the Ancient Seas” is a huge project, because we wanted to design three games at the same time (for more info check out an earlier blog post on this) that cover this fascinating epoch. When the Kickstarter Campaign goes live you will be able to choose between any of the three titles, or all of them in big pack.

One of the “Mare Nostrum” prototypes that went out to the reviewers.

Back in 2018 we started playtesting with maps that were hand drawn by me. Crude coloured pencil on white paper. The last months a huge amount of work, energy and creativity went into developing detailed, functional and more importantly eye-pleasing maps and other game components. Our artist Marc von Martial did an incredible job on all the game components of the game series!

Prototypes were manufactured and sent out to various reviewers and boardgame channels. The games of the series went a long way and we and reviewers are very happy with the results!

Let us know what you think!

Take care and thanks for your interest in our games! See you in the next blog post,
your Uwe Walentin.
