While publishing many games in my career, I have always wanted to design and publish my vision of tactical Napoleonic warfare. Your support is allowing me to realize that vision.
|
When starting the project, I defined a short design philosophy that had to be different from existing games on this subject; something fresh and new combining traditional hex and counter war game design with new approaches.
|
Being a gamer myself, I wanted to focus on the action on the map, focus on game play and decision-making. I don't want to struggle with complicated procedures and a dozen charts and tables. Therefore, one design aspect in our games is to reduce the number of charts to a minimum.
|
Each procedure and mechanic have to be simple. The combination of three simple and easy to remember mechanics results in a complex decision finding process. And that is what is fun while playing games: Making decisions.
|
To ease play and allow an intuitive learning of the game we use icons, graphics and colors wherever possible. To represent the difference of infantry in line and column formation, simply turn the unit counter over to its opposite side.

There is only one player's sheet in the game (back printed). Take a look on the charge / assault table. Most modifiers are self-explanatory and obvious for most of you Grognards.
|
I could have added much detail, and much historical chrome, but I decided to waive aspects that have only little effect but ask a lot of effort to learn, understand and remember.
|
|
The biggest compliment a designer can hope for, it that gamers consider the game "elegant" while being historically accurate.
|
