Dear Friends We are entering the last days of the campaign and the team of SoD is very happy that you are part of the story of our version of the battle of Eylau. While designing and play-testing the game, there was one aspect I didn't know how to portray (and at the end I simply ignored it): smoke. The smoke of the gun fire and its effects on sight. While exchanging suggestions about game mechanisms with Carl Paradis he had the idea to simplify the procedure of the fire combat segment by placing "smoke" markers on top of the units that fired. Instead of moving a "fire" marker from each unit that fired, he suggested placig a "smoke" marker on units that executed fire combat. This is so much more elegant than our original idea. And it gives the battlefield a look that is somehow similar to the real battlefield.
I hope you will like that idea, too. This concept offers a couple of nice options as a side effect. Let's talk about that in the next update.
Have a great day Vive l'Empereur!
